With a playoff seeding no doubt in the back of their minds, the St. Regis Lady Tigers took to their home court Thursday and routed Two Eagle River 60-24.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early 13-6 lead at the end of the first quarter behind some accurate free throw shooting and two rebound putback baskets by freshman post Avery Burnham.

With Burnham controlling the boards, and junior Macy Hill racking up eight points on four jump shots, St. Regis expanded their first quarter advantage thanks to a 16-8 run in the second period. That surge put St. Regis up 29-14 at the half.

The Lady Tigers, who are currently in the middle of the Western 14C conference race with this game and one remaining against Noxon, turned up the defensive pressure in the third quarter and outscored the visitors 18-0 behind 10 more points from Burnham and four from Hill.

They entered the halftime intermission comfortably in front of the Eagles, 47-14 and coasted to the win as reserve players got considerable varsity playing time.

Burnham scored a season-high and game-high 20 points to lead the Lady Tigers, while Hill added 17 to the St. Regis cause.

Dayan Piapot scored 16 to pace Two Eagle.

The loss dropped the winless Eagles to 0-7 in the conference and 0-10 on the year. St. Regis improved its conference record to 6-7 and their overall season record to 7-8 with the victory.

The Lady Tigers hit the road the next evening for a game in Noxon and came away with a 65-42 victory over the Lady Red Devils.

Freshman Shylah Dalka got St.Regis off to a good start in the opening quarter when she tossed in six points to help the Lady Tigers build a 16-7 lead. They expanded that lead to 30-15 at halftime thanks in large part to the 10 points scored by Burnham in the second quarter.

Baylee Pruitt took control in the third quarter and scored 9 points as the Lady Tigers went in front 51-30 heading into the final quarter.

Burnham led the Lady Tigers with 20 points, and in so doing tied Emily Brown of Noxon for game-high scoring honors.

St. Regis has two regular season games remaining beginning Thursday night when they host Valley Christian. They then travel to Victor Friday night to close out their season.

St. Regis will play in the District 14C tournament which begins February 17 in Ronan.
