Superior’s loss is Carroll College’s gain.

And while it will be hard to say goodbye to and replace the athletic talents displayed by Superior senior Sorren Reese, the Fighting Saints will be bringing a standout student athlete to Helena.

Reese, who has been a star in volleyball, basketball and track for the Lady Bobcats will take her track and field talents to Helena where she will participate in the javelin and heptathlon events for the Frontier Conference Lady Bears.

“I like all the sports,” she said recently. “But track is where I feel my best abilities lie.”

That may be an understatement.

She has been winning medals in track, particularly javelin and middle distance running event for several years. Last year and this year she decided not to play basketball after the volleyball season ended so she could concentrate more on track.

To that extent, she has spent time training with top class track coaches and athletes in Missoula and will be a member of the Superior High track team this spring.

On track to become valedictorian at Superior when she graduates, Reese received a large merit scholarship from Carroll to go along with the full tuition offer for track.

This weekend the family will travel to take part in a national caliber volleyball meet in Las Vegas after she was chosen to play on the Montana Volleyball Academy’s national team.

“There are over 200 teams in their division and its being held in the Mandalay Bay

Events Center,” said her mother, Sarah Reese. “Its a really cool way for her to finish out her volleyball career”.

Reese, who has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade points average throughout her high school days, is planning on majoring in pre-med studies, with the goal of becoming a pediatrician.

And this Springs she will concentrate on school work and track, where she is throwing the shot put over 30 feet, long jumping 16 feet and clearing 5 feet in the high jump. Those are events in which she will compete in the heptathlon event.

Reese will be joining another local standout student athlete when she attends Carroll as Hot Springs’ Katelyn Christensen has also signed with the bears.
