Community gathers for Plains' Picnic in the Park

The Plains community celebrated the annual Picnic in the Park on Independence Day. VFW Horse Plains Post 3596 furnished hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and soft drinks to those that attended the event.
Plains town council member Connie Foust started the celebration out by reading the mission statement from the group The Free Americans. The Declaration of Independence was read by Noah Hathorne, Hunter Fleldes and Jim Gillibrand. After the reading, Jim Gillibrand spoke about the sacrifices the signers of the Declaration of Independence made for the birth of the nation.
