Mineral County Fair offers homespun charm
Mineral County (54) is Western Montana’s scenic gateway. We have an abundance of exciting recreational opportunities, including secluded lakes, rivers and streams for floating, fishing and swimming; gorgeous forests for camping; rugged mountains for hiking; backcountry trails to ride on horseback, bicycle or ATV; game for photographing and hunting; and unparalleled vistas for sightseeing.
We also have the Mineral County Fair in Superior from Aug. 4-6.
Each year, thousands of locals and folks from across America attend our small-town, country fair. Some are past residents catching up with family and old friends. Others are travelers exploring Big Sky Country.
Still, some had no previous personal connection to our county but, once they’ve been here, they choose to return annually just because it’s so much fun! No matter the reason for their visit, our fairgoers are always welcomed with friendly smiles and free fairgrounds admission.
This year’s Mineral County Fair offers all of our most popular attractions. We begin each day with a scrumptious pancake breakfast followed by 4-H and Open Class projects, kids’ waterslides, bounce houses, an obstacle course, and games. Each afternoon, we feature live music and bingo.
The Cabin Fever Quilters Guild will hold their 21st annual quilt show, “Big Sky Stars” with featured quilter, Mary Foley. Throughout each day and evening, our concessionaires serve a variety of delicious food and refreshing beverages to satisfy any craving.
On Thursday, we have Family Night in the arena (Jackpot Barrel Racing, Chicken Scramble, and Calf Chase).
Friday and Saturday nights draw large crows for the Superior Lions Club “Go For The Gold” Rodeo (bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, tie down roping, as well as team roping – tickets on sale starting July 20).
Saturday morning don’t miss our Parade through the main streets of Superior (wave to our Grand Marshals/Fair Board Honorees – Doug and Neva Cummings).
Saturday afternoon, the Livestock Auction earns our hardworking 4-H members well-deserved returns on their investments and the microphones are hot for our Talent Show.
We have a diverse array of skilled commercial vendors to peruse. Oh, and if you love to cut-a-rug, join us every evening for our free Western After Party. The band 406 will have your boots scootin’ on Thursday. You won’t want to stop twirling your partner around that dance floor when Shodown takes the stage Friday night, and J.D. & The Western Front will make you heel-toe dosie doe on Saturday evening.
Our new activities and events for 2022 promise an exciting line-up. On Thursday afternoon, the Missoula Butterfly House & Insectarium will drop by to show us some of the amazing insect and arthropod species with which we share our planet. DSS: Backyard Events will open their Educational Petting Zoo each day for a hands-on learning experience for the whole family.
The World’s Funnest Photobooth will provide photographic evidence that you rode a dolphin, rocket ship, tiger, bucking bull, or T-Rex. Karaoke, a Pie Eating Contest, Kids’ Bike Rodeo, a visit with our 2022 Rodeo Royalty, and special musical guests will be sprinkled throughout the three afternoons. In addition, we have amazing giveaways for kids and fabulous raffle prizes for adults.
As you can see, the Mineral County Fair has plenty of cowboy spirit, homespun charm, and Western Fun for All Ages. Mark your calendars and join us August 4,5,6, 2022 for “FUN GALORE IN THE 54!”
