You couldn't miss this stately patriotic display of the stars and stripes waving in the wind as you passed through St. Regis over Memorial Day Weekend. Held high by a crane from Extreme Towing, the American Flag could be seen by those near and far. (Amy Quinlivan/Mineral Independent)
There were well over fifty American flags placed at various graves in the St. Regis Cemetery this Memorial Day weekend, just a small representation of the very large percentage of service members that make up all of Mineral County. Miniature versions of the stars and stripes waving around the green lawns are a visual reminder to all Montana communities of their own veterans buried and the ultimate sacrifice that many have made.
