John Dwight Day

John Dwight Day left this world to join Rose, his wife of sixty years. John was born May 28, 1927 in Cisco, Texas, he passed away Feb. 17, 2022.

John was preceded in passing by his three sisters; Loma Clawson, Thelma DeWing and Fan Merritt, and his brother William “Seth” day. He is survived by his three sons; John Daniel Day, wife Linda, Charles Day, wife Carol and George Day, wife Kristy, Seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

John worked for the Milwaukee Railroad until his retirement. During his time with the Milwaukee Railroad he lived in Gold Creek, Bearmouth, Judith Gap, Harlowton, Tarkio, and Haugan before moving to Plains when he retired. He enjoyed many things: raced a minibike at the motorcycle races at the Miller Creek racetrack (Double O from Tarkio), hunting and fishing, played the Piano, turned lamps and other things on his wood lathe. He is probably remembered as the potato man the most.

There will be a memorial held on his birthday the 28th of May, 2022. John will be buried next his wife at the Plains Cemetery on March 4 in a private ceremony for family and close friends of the family.
