Alberton open house looks at I-90 bridge replacements
A few months ago, the Montana Department of Transportation announced that three bridges on I-90 west of Alberton were on the radar of replacement starting in 2023, but a few more boxes to mark off their checklist needed attention, with public comment next in line.
The public can attend in-person or choose to participate in a virtual (online) open house. Community members are encouraged to stop by the Alberton School Cafeteria, 306 Railroad Avenue in Alberton on Wednesday, Oct. 19 anytime between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.
MDT will provide information about the preliminary plans for the bridges and answer questions at both the in-person and virtual open houses. The virtual open house will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, October 18 from noon to 1 p.m. Registration is necessary to attend the virtual open house and live Question and Answer session. Information presented at the open houses will include MDT’s plans to improve three bridges that carry westbound Interstate 90 traffic over:
• Old Highway 10 and Elizabeth Lane 9.5 miles west of Alberton
• Clark Fork River near Alberton Gorge approximately 8 ½ miles west of Alberton
• Clark Fork River near Cyr approximately 5 miles west of Alberton
“This bridge project is a major undertaking for MDT and our engineering partner Morrison-Maierle,” said Missoula District Administrator, Bob Vosen. “Improvements to these bridges will be designed over a multi-year planning process. Gathering input from the public is an important part of our design process.”
