If you’ve never heard of electro swing music, you have many people standing with you.

It’s described as combining the sounds of the 1920s and 30s jazz, with the electronic music of today. It’s a brand-new resonance, custom made to make you feel good. Live horns, vintage samples, and funky beats to create a whole new type of dance party.

Hailing from Seattle, Good Co is the first electro swing band in the United States and the group will be performing in Superior on Friday evening, April 28.

The Mineral County Performing Arts Council Treasurer, Jim Goss explains. “The last two Spring Galas have featured the elegant and multi-talented singers, pianist and a violinist from New York City known as The Empire Trio, formerly O Sole Trio. This time around, we're bringing in a five-piece band called Good Co, which plays lots of upbeat, danceable music which is both retro along with a contemporary "electro-beat" sound.”

In 2008 MCPAC established itself as a nonprofit. Since then, they have initiated performance seasons consisting of at least five events, running from September to August of each year.

All performances are free and open to the public except for the Spring Gala.

“Yes, tickets are $20 and really are intended to give us a good idea of headcount and to cover the cost of the food,” said Goss. “The cost for entertainment is on us, as it is at all of our performances. And that’s thanks to all the businesses and individuals that make this possible, along with WESTAF/TourWest, which supports us through a grant.”

The meal is before the 7 p.m., performance at the LDS Church, 117 Moats Lane, with doors opening at 6 p.m.

“We hope to get a good crowd to enjoy the electricity of the evening,” smiled Goss.

Tickets are available at Darlows Quality Foods Customer Service Desk or call Mary Jo Berry at 406-822-2213.
