Plains High School celebrated Brain Bash Day this past Thursday. Both teachers and students shared the day playing games as well as challenging their mental and physical skills.

Fifteen different events were offered to the students, ranging from basketball games to dancing. Teacher Kristen Cole and counselor Tanna Klammer were each posing as FBI agents in the "defuse the bomb" class, along with their golden retriever, bomb-sniffing dog Maizey.

The pressure was on team members to figure out how to disarm the computer-generated bomb as the FBI agents sternly looked on. Each classroom team was given 10 minutes to complete their games. At the end of the day all assembled in the gym to find out who took first, second and third place.

The winners were, first place, the “Camo Team”, second place, the ”Football Players” team, third place were the “Cowboys” team.

Also during the Brain Bash assembly, representatives from VFW Post 3596 presented the Teacher of the Year award to Plains teacher Lisa Brown. Commander of the local VFW post Ron Kilbury presented the award.

The award is based on the nominations from local community members. Brown also received Teacher of the Year Award from VFW District One Commander Heather Allen. This award encompasses a much broader geographical area, with the final voting being on the national level.

Along with the plaque, Brown received $100.
