Firefighters knock down garage fire in Plains
Fire crews from Plains-Paradise Rural Fire District and Plains Fire Department were on scene for a garage fire late Friday afternoon. The Plains-Paradise crew was first on scene with Fire Chief James Russell, shortly followed by the Plains Fire Department with Plains Fire Chief Tony Young. Both departments arrived to a fully engulfed garage.
The garage fire, at the end of North Central Avenue, was caused by a possible short in an extension cord. A more extensive investigation was to take place after the fire cooled down.
The homeowner, who asked not to be identified, was at home when a neighbor knocked on his door and informed him about the fire.
The homeowner said he was thankful that the fire didn’t spread to the house.
All the contents in the garage were a total loss, which included a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Fire crews took around 15 minutes to knock down the flames.
The homeowner also said the fire department did a fantastic job. The home and garage were covered by fire insurance.
Also on scene were the DNRC with their wildland fire truck.
