Roadway improvements begin in Thompson Falls
The Montana Department of Transportation and Razz Construction, Inc. are making significant Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades and roadway improvements along Main Street and Montana 200 as part of the Thompson Falls Urban project.
The project begins near the Thompson Falls Rural Fire Station at the intersection of Main Street and Montana 200 with Maiden Lane and extends southeast through the city for approximately 1 mile, ending at the entrance to Wild Goose Landing Park.
The project will enhance roadway safety features, improve pedestrian access, provide a smoother surface and reduce maintenance costs. This project is part of MDT’s effort to improve pedestrian infrastructure statewide. These improvements will bring sidewalk access into compliance with the ADA standards.
The project is underway starting with ADA upgrades happening along the north shoulder of Main Street. Specifically, 30 updated sidewalk curb ramps will enhance safety and accessibility for all users along the corridor.
Following completion of ADA upgrades, roadway resurfacing will take place over the summer. This work will include milling, overlay, crack seal, seal and cover (chip seal), and striping, as well as improvements to approaches, lighting, drainage, and updated signage.
Traffic control is in place throughout construction. Access to local businesses will be maintained during this time.
