Unruly behavior at commission meetings
I am deeply concerned about what is happening in our county and more specifically, the behavior that is occurring at our Mineral County Commissioners’ meetings.
Over the past few months, a small number of dissatisfied citizens have started to attend the open meetings on Fridays. While they may have some constructive advice and good ideas, the methods they are using to get their points across leave much to be desired. They have bullied our commissioners – and others – by swearing at them, calling them names, shouting at them, shaming them, and degrading them in general, both during the meetings and off the camera.
Furthermore, these meetings are being recorded in their entirety and then being distributed on Facebook with follow-up negative comments made by a few people.
If you have any concerns about our county government and the way it’s being run, please come to the meetings in person or, if that’s not possible, talk to others you trust to truly find out what is going on at our courthouse. Or better yet, visit with one of the commissioners about any of your concerns during their weekly office hours.
There is a lot more to the story.
