Plains voters turn down school levy request
Plains voters overwhelmingly turned down a general fund levy in the May 2 school elections. The final vote tally showed 708 against the levy, with 499 in favor.
The district had requested approval of a $100,000 general fund levy for maintenance and operations. If it had passed the impact on a home with a taxable value of $200,000 would have been approximately $34.84. The average homeowner would see an increase of around $40 per year.
In the Plains school trustee election, voters chose Lana Dicken and Steve Spurr for three-year terms on the board.
In another contested race, Thompson Falls School District voters selected Ryan Friends and Jacob Helvey for a two three-year terms on the school board.
