Junior Rodeo Princess applications due June 14

A big reason many live in rural Montana is to have animals. Raising livestock, especially for children, is a life teaching process stressing the responsibilities of accountability and the repercussions.
The 4-H kids know this better than most and appreciate the creatures they care for.
Many young women who fancy the equine side of living take this to another level if they become involved in the rodeo community.
Each year, the Superior LION’s Club seeks applications for a Junior Rodeo Princess and those forms are ready and waiting to be filled out as they are at customer service counter in Darlow’s Quality Foods in Superior and at the administration office of all three schools in the county.
Young ladies make a three-year commitment for the titles they will hold starting off their first year as the 2023 Junior Rodeo Princess. The winning candidate will receive $50 cash and a $50 gift certificate from Mountain West Co-Op (CENEX) to help defray the cost of her outfit. Plus, a custom handmade sash from world renowned sash maker Wendy Russ. And finally, a genuine silver crown, made by Montana Silversmiths.
Actually, both the Rodeo Princess and Rodeo Queen will receive new crowns for their new positions and all three are donated by Lincolns $50,000 Silver Dollar Bar in Haugan.
The Junior Rodeo Princess will serve along with Rodeo Princess Lanie Crabb and this year’s Rodeo Queen Bailey Hansen the Go for the Gold Rodeo held during the 2023 Mineral County Fair scheduled for Aug. 3-4.
The competition for the Junior Rodeo Princess is open to all Mineral County young women between the ages of 13 and 20, who have been a resident of the county for at least six months. Applicants must show evidence of involvement in community service and they will be tested on horsemanship skills and knowledge. The winner in the Junior Rodeo Princess competition will advance to Princess next year and Queen the year following.
