Raymond “Ray” Frederick Hood
October 8, 1951 – November 21, 2024

Raymond “Ray” Frederick Hood, a proud Navy veteran, devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on Nov. 21, 2024. Born on Oct. 8, 1951, in Missoula, Montana, to Fred and Jean Hood, Ray grew up in Superior, where he embraced the small-town values, work ethic, and unwavering positivity that defined his life.

Ray attended Superior High School, where he was an enthusiastic and hardworking member of the football team. After graduation, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy in 1970. During his distinguished 20-year military career, which included service in the Vietnam War, Ray served with dedication as a maintenance and electrical technician on fighter aircraft. While in the Navy, he also earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. His unwavering dedication to duty and commitment to excellence were hallmarks of his service.

Upon retiring from military service, Ray returned to his roots in Superior. There, he continued his lifelong commitment to serving others as an employee at Castle’s Market. Whether assisting customers or sharing a friendly smile, Ray became a beloved figure in the community, known for his warmth and genuine care for everyone he encountered.
Ray finally met the woman of his dreams, Ana Malou Arcadio and they were married April 15, 2017. And Ray’s life was finally filled with the love he had longed his whole life for. His years with Ana have been the best years of his life as attested by everyone who knew them as a couple.

Ray is survived by his adorable wife, Ana, and his cherished son, Jay, who both were the heart of his world. He also leaves behind his siblings: Jerrie Bullock, John Hood, Connie Lemon, and deceased sisters Linda Hood and Jackie DeCaprilles. In addition, he leaves behind a long host of extended family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Ray will be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, sports authority, and unwavering love for his family and community. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the encouragement he offered, and the positivity he shared.
Ray’s Family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Dec. 4, 2024 at 2 p.m. at River Side Soups & Sandz in Superior. Coffee, beverages and a light lunch will be provided.

Our hope is to feel the community love for the loss of our always smiling Ray…a kind loving “Superior” person. We hope you all will share a story, feeling, joke, comment, or fond memory of Ray.
