A pre-bid meeting was held this past week at the Thompson Falls town office for road improvements scheduled for the upcoming construction season.

Mayor Rusti Leivestad, Public Works Director Neal Harnett, and Carrie Gardner, project manager with Great West Engineering were on hand to answer questions for interested contractors.

Gardner is the project manager overseeing the project for the city.

Two firms were present to review the bid: Samuel Williams with Interstate Concrete and Asphalt out of Sandpoint, Idaho and Levi Thompson with Thompson River Ready Mix out of Thompson Falls.

The project is for milling and paving Haley Avenue between Jefferson and Greenwood streets.

Money for the project is coming from a State-Local Infrastructure Partnership grant (SLIPA) totaling $120,000. SLIPA is a state funded program to help cities and towns fund the maintenance and repair of local government facilities. Leivestad said the town will repair as much as we can until the grant money runs out.

Contractors have until Dec. 5 to have their bids submitted to the city.
