Danna Fitzwilliams, 87
Danna P. Miller Fitzwilliams was born in Butte on March 16, 1937 to Sennie and Dan Miller. Brother Dale joined the family in 1940, (passed away earlier this year).
Graduated at the top of her class from Butte HIgh in 1955. Passed up a full scholarship, remained in Butte, married Ray Fitzwilliams shortly thereafter, and moved to his family ranch. She worked on the ranch during the day, and as a cook at night at various restaurants around Butte. She loved the ranching life and her animals; Raymond, not so much, divorcing him and beginning college as a nontraditional student in 1983. She graduated with a degree in elementary ed and art. She moved to Alberton, and loved being part of a community. She taught art, special education, and was a librarian at Alberton Schools, loving “her kids”! After she retired from teaching, she found her dream job, the city of Alberton librarian for 11 years, retiring in 2016 due to health.
She loved her community, her home, Red Hatter escapades and shenanigans, her garden, her animals, her friends and absolutely cherished her family.
Surviving is her “sister’ Carol Drobny, nephews Dan Miller (Lonnie) and Chris Miller. Nieces Hildra Christopherson (Ron), and Robyn Trott (Marty). She adored her great nieces and nephews as well as their children-following all of their exploits with great interest! (No party was complete without Auntie Danna; her booming laugh, and the red bowl!).
She was baptized in the Methodist Church in her later years, and greatly enjoyed attending services. She also loved people-their stories, thoughts, dreams...and soon had their life story. She kept confidences, didn’t judge, and accepted people for who they were when they were with her. Special thanks to her beloved caretaker and friend, Janette Miner.
Celebration of the life of this eclectic, zany, fun and unique lady will be held at the Alberton Senior Center on Dec. 21, 2024 at 1 p.m.
