It was a holiday sweep for the Thompson Falls boys’ and girls’ basketball teams at the expense of Class C Seeley-Swan this past Friday night in T Falls.

The Lady Hawks got the doubleheader rolling when they exploded to an 18-5 lead over the Blackhawks who came in with a 4-1 season mark as members of the Western 13C conference.

The second quarter was a defensive standoff, sprinkled with cold shooting, as T Falls, a Western 7B conference contender, outscored the visitors 5-4, giving them the Lady Hawks a 23-9 halftime advantage.

Forward Addy Deal lead the Lady Hawks in scoring with 16 points as T Falls wrapped up the victory by outscoring Seeley 18-11 over the final eight minutes of play.

Teammate Gabi Hannum contributed 13 points for the Lady Hawks, who had seven players score during the game.  The 24-point win was the first of the season for the Lady Hawks.

In the nightcap of the two-game set, the Blue Hawks’ boys locked horns with the Blackhawks in what was a tight, back and forth contest from start to finish.

T Falls emerged from a hard-fought first quarter with an 8-6 lead, then expanded it to 27-18 by outscoring the Blackhawks 19-12 in the second quarter.

The Blue Hawks increased their lead in the third quarter, giving them a 41-27 lead heading into the final eight minutes of play.  Senior forward Bryson LeCoure scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Blue Hawks to their second victory of the young season, leaving them with a 2-2 overall mark.

Seniors Sam Burgess and Kaden Robins chipped in 10 and eight points respectively in the Blue Hawks’ win.

Saturday night the T Falls boys got a monster game from senior forward Bryson LeCoure, who poured in 34 points to lead the Blue Hawks past Anaconda 64-50.

Kaden Robins added 19 points in the T Falls win.

Anaconda took a 13-9 first quarter lead before T Falls regrouped in the second quarter and outscored the Copperheads 18-9 to take a 27-22 lead at the half.

The host Copperheads kept the game close in the third quarter, which ended with T Falls leading 46-40.

But the Blue Hawks were able to quell that Anaconda comeback bid and extend the final margin of victory to 64-50.

The Lady Hawks were not so fortunate against the Lady Copperheads, who eked out a narrow 8-6 lead after one quarter of play.  The host team then outscored T Falls 22-15 in quarter number two to take a 30-21 lead into the halftime intermission.

The third quarter belonged to Anaconda as the Lady Copperheads offense added 11 points to their halftime lead, giving them a 50-31 advantage heading into the final eight minutes of play.

That edge proved to be too much for T Falls to overcome as they fell to the Lady Copperheads by a 62-46 count.

The Lady Hawks and Blue Hawks return to action following the first of the year when they travel to Deer Lodge January 4.
