Make that five in a row for the Thompson Falls girls who picked up a pair of Western 7B conference wins in the last week of the regular season.

The Lady Hawks hammered Troy 68-10 Thursday night on the Trojans home court, then returned home Saturday night and took down Superior 53-45 to push their league mark to 8-2, one game behind conference regular season champ St. Ignatius, which finished 7B play with a 9-1 record.

The Lady Hawks earned the number two seed from the conference for this coming weekend’s District championships, while St. Ignatius is the top seed.

Thompson Falls had one of its most lopsided wins of the season Thursday night in a game that was essentially over by halftime.

The Lady Hawks outscored Troy 11-0 in the first quarter, then ran their lead to 36-2 at halftime.

They went on to outscore Troy 32-8 in the second half as they coasted to the victory.

Freshman Aubrey Baxter led the Lady Hawks with 13 points and was joined in double figure scoring by 5-10 sophomore forward Gabby Hannum, who chipped in 11.

After dispatching Troy Thursday night, T Falls returned to their home court for the season finale and found a tough, scrappy young Superior team ready to take them on.

T Falls fought to a 14-9 lead after the first quarter of play. But the Lady Bobcats battled them to a 10-10 draw in the second quarter, sending both teams into the halftime intermission with T Falls holding a 24-19 lead.

The home team added three points to their lead in the third quarter, giving T Falls a 36-28 lead with one quarter to play.

The Cats and Hawks traded baskets in the fourth quarter, allowing Thompson Falls to pick up its eighth conference win.

Superior freshman Josie Crabb, who has emerged as a standout for the Cats, led all scorers with 18 points. Junior forward Braelynn Mangold added 13 for the Lady Cats.

Hannum led T Falls in scoring with 13 points, and Addie Pardee added 12 to the Lady Hawks effort.

The loss dropped Superior to 3-7 in conference play and 6-11 overall.

The District playoffs, with possible seeding games Monday and Tuesday of this week, begin Friday at Mission High School in St. Ignatius.
