It will go down as a 3-0 sweep for the Thompson Falls boys basketball team during this 2023-24 season, as once again the Blue Hawks came out on top of a rapidly improving Plains Horsemen team, 60-37, in a District 7B boys semi-final playoff game.

The win vaulted T Falls to the championship game against Eureka, while the loss dropped Plains to third, earning them an eventual third seed after a 52-50 consolation round over St. Ignatius, which secured the fourth seed with the loss.

T Falls subsequently lost to Eureka and was awarded the District’s second seed.

T Falls opened the game versus Plains by taking a 14-8 lead after the first quarter of play. They outscored the Horsemen 14-6 in the second quarter on their way to a 28-14 halftime advantage.

Plains could not overcome the early deficit and were outscored 32-23 in the second half to secure the win for their rivals from T Falls, who swept the season series from the Horsemen.

That put the Horsemen in the consolation rounds where they encountered Superior, dispatching of the Bobcats 70-41 on their way to their game with Eureka.

Thompson, meanwhile, ended up second after a loss to Eureka in the title game.

Senior forward Nick Tessier led the Blue Hawks in their game with Plains, scoring a game high 15 points. Lecoure added 14 and Theo Nygaard had 10 for the Blue Hawks. Zephaniah Dines topped Plains with 10.

T Falls had a big rebounding advantage, snaring 32 boards to 17 for the Horsemen. T Falls finished 4-10 from three-point land, wit Tessier going 2-5 from beyond the arc and Kaiden Robbins hitting both of his long distance shots.

T Falls moves on to take on Florence-Carlton, 14-8 on the year, this Thursday (Feb 22) while Plains has a date with Anaconda, this Thursday at 4:45 at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo.
