Roland Dwayne Harvey
Roland Dwayne Harvey, 65, of Kasilof, AK, passed away on the Koro Island of Fiji on Nov. 3, 2023.
He was born on Nov. 11, 1957, in Napa California.
Roland was a kind and considerate individual who had a natural ability to get along with everyone he came in contact with. He cherished his friends, family, and children, especially his son Cameron whom he was very close to. He was known for his strong work ethic and sense of the moment, Roland was someone to admire.
In his career, Roland excelled as a Carpenter, and General Contractor. His skills and craftsmanship were evident in the projects he undertook throughout his life. From Barrow, AK, to the wilds of the Fiji islands you can find his handyworks.
Roland's hobbies included fishing, traveling to Hawaii and Fiji, rock and roll, playing the drums, and building things. (He was especially happy when playing drums with the Barrowtones in Barrow, AK.) He found joy in these activities and embraced them wholeheartedly.
Roland will be remembered for his kind nature, hard work, and love for his family and friends. He is survived by a large family, his sons Cameron and Shane Harvey, and his siblings Arthur Harvey, Curtis Harvey, Kathy Butler, Brett Harvey, Marisa Dobiash, Taryn Holmes, and his ever-proud mother Margaret Harvey.
And of course, his extended Alaska family whom he handpicked and loved very deeply.
A private cremation service was held in Fiji, and Roland's ashes will be lovingly spread by family and friends along the Kasilof River in Alaska in July of 2024. Salmon season!
For Roland truly found the place where he belonged!
