Mary Jo Gould, 85

Mary Jo Gould, 85, passed away of natural causes on Jan. 16, 2024, at the Mineral Community Hospital Long Term Care Facility.

She was born May 3, 1938, in Missoula, to Edna and Clyde Smith. She attended Superior Public Schools starting with the Quartz country schoolhouse, grades 1-8, and finished her education at Superior High School. 

Upon graduation in 1957, she and Don Gould married and made their home initially in Superior then St. Ignatius and then back to Superior, having four children along the way. After having her children, she was employed in the restaurant industry for many years in Superior and St. Regis. In later years, Big Sky Motel and Castles grocery were sources of employment. 

Her hobbies included baking, playing cards with friends and family, and sitting on her front porch watching cars and people pass by as well as enjoying her cat, Jamaica. 

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Clyde and Edna, her spouse Don, and her daughter Robin Gould Jones. 

She is survived by sons Richard (Kathleen), Brent (Belen), and Guy Gould as well as grandchildren Shawn (Aubrie), Matt, Kelly, and Ann Marie Gould. 

Services will be at noon, Feb. 3, 2024, at the Superior High School multipurpose room followed by a luncheon in the Superior High School concession plaza.
