Road work planned on Main Street in Thompson Falls
The Montana Department of Transportation and its partner Razz Construction Inc. plan to begin repairs in the Thompson Falls-Urban project area this week. This work is part of the project’s warranty period.
Crews will improve drainage at the approach of South Jefferson Street and Main Street. Seal and cover (chip seal) repairs will also be made along Main Street and Montana 200. This work is anticipated to last approximately one week. All work is dependent on weather conditions and other factors permitting.
The project’s main construction activities occurred during the summer of 2023, with significant Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades and roadway improvements on approximately 1 mile of the Thompson Falls Main Street and MT 200 corridor.
During construction activities, traffic control will be in place. South Jefferson Street will be closed, and Main Street and Montana 200 parking will be restricted near the intersection of South Jefferson Street. Pedestrians are required to use the temporary, marked walkways around the construction area.
As chip seal repairs are made along the corridor, drivers should expect single-lane closures, reduced speeds, potential width restrictions, delays, and parking restrictions.
The state is committed to maintaining access to local businesses during construction.
