Archie Tamietti, 77
Archie F. Tamietti, 77, of Superior, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at his family home in Superior.
He was born on Dec. 6, 1946, in Superior to Francis and Elizabeth Tamietti. As a young man, he lived with his family of two brothers and a twin sister in the Mineral County Jailhouse where his father held the office of Mineral County Sheriff. He attended the Superior School District, where he graduated in 1965. His high school years were marked by his passion for basketball, leading the varsity squad to a State Championship in 1963. He went on to graduate from Eastern Montana College with a degree in Education.
Archie taught at various schools throughout the state for forty-plus years, retiring from Florence-Carlton School District in 2012. He also coached basketball for over ten years during his teaching tenure.
Outside of his teaching career, Archie was an avid outdoorsman. He found solace in fishing, hunting, and rockhounding and had a knack for always knowing where the big game were. He always enjoyed a great game of Pinochle with his mother and twin sister, Arleen.
Survivors include three sons and their families: Jason and Kari Tamietti, Victor, Jarett and Shannon Tamietti, Missoula, and Jeff Tamietti, Spokane, WA; a twin sister, Arleen Wilson, Centennial, CO; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
