Mineral County Library holds annual book sale
The Mineral County Library System creates opportunities to participate, connect and discover.’ is their Vision Statement. The branches in Alberton, Superior and St. Regis are united, but different when it comes to hours and some services, but everyone that works and volunteers at them, wants to be there. They are happy to help, answer questions and bring people up to speed with their technology.
Membership is free and that opens the door to borrowing ebooks and audiobooks with the Libby App for a PC, tablet or mobile phone. The Palace is another free, easy to use e-reader app that lets people find, check out, and read or listen to books. With Kanopy, people can stream thousands of films for free.
And if this new way of using a library is too intimidating, they can explain and install what is needed on a device. Heather Miles at the Superior Branch is so techy that on Thursdays, Heather Helps from noon to 1 p.m., has her helping people with their computers, phones, wi-fi, etc. by dropping by or better yet, making an appointment at 406-822-3563.
1.64 mills are awarded to the Mineral County Library for this service, and Guna Chaberek, director, and her staff want everyone to come by and see everything that is new.
A day to do that would be Saturday, June 22 when the Superior Branch has their annual book sale, but this has more than reading material. Hot dogs will be available along with a bake sale but something you may not see at fundraising events is fabric.
“The fabrics have been donated by a member of Friend of the Library. They were probably inventory from a fabric store. There are cotton goods that will be good for quilting. There’s wool, knits, velvet, and some specialty fabrics to make tents, etc. These are high-end fabric goods,” Chaberek explained.
Sue and Roger Jostad have been working since last year to organize the books to sell, Chaberek said.
“The books are discarded or donated books which have been gathered all year. The best sellers seem to be adult fiction, and children’s titles. Books and fabric will be sold by donation, or non-perishable foods can be donated for our library food pantry.”
She also said that all monies will be a substantial boost to their Summer Reading Program, as well as the Hobnobbing children’s program, the Saturday Circle, and the take-home kits. For more information, call 406-822-3563. www.mineralcountylibrary.org.
