Neva MacDonald Cummings, 89

Neva MacDonald Cummings left us early in the morning on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Mineral Community Hospital. Neva was born in Kamai, ID on July 23, 1934, to Weston and Alice (Brown) MacDonald, joining two sisters, Marie and Hyrel. The family lived in Superior until Neva was in the third grade, when the moved to Perma. They later moved to Dixon, where she graduated from high school in 1952. Neva went on to graduate from Western Montana College in Dillon in June of 1954. She taught school in Thompson Falls and Plains.

Neva married the love of her life, Douglas Cummings in Dixon and June 29, 1957. The couple lived in Plains where they had three girls.

The Family moved to Superior in 1964, where Neva taught kindergarten in the basement of the Lutheran church. She then became the county librarian for 5 years. The couple bought and ran the hardware store for 17 years, then she went to work dispatching at the county jail for 9 years before retiring.

Preceded her in death were her parents, her sisters, Marie Vulles and Hyrel Walsh, brothers, Wes MacDonald and Clinton MacDonald.

She is survived by her husband, three daughters, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Carma Briggs, Tonya and Pete Collins, Wendie and Charley Richards, Seth Richards, Landon Richards, Rebecca and Jason Frost, Khloe Frost, Shana and Dale Williams, Joseph Williams, Adam Williams, Brenner Williams, and she will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Superior Grade School Gym. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mineral County Library or the Superior Community Outreach program in Neva's honor.
