After a grueling and challenging beginning to the 2024 season, the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks return from playing four of their first five football games on the road.

To set the table for the return to home cooking, the Hawks shut out Anaconda 28-0 this past Friday ahead of two straight home games in their near future.

First things first.

T Falls struck first against the Copperheads, scoring on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Kaiden Robins to Michael Koskela in the first part of the first quarter.  The PAT attempt failed, but the Blue Hawks took a 6-0 lead.

Before the first quarter came to an end, T Falls increased their advantage to 14-0 via a short, four-yard TD pass from senior Bryson LeCoure to Mason Park.  The two-point PAT try was good.

Both defenses ruled the roost in the second and third quarters, as neither team could find the opposition end zone.

Entering the fourth quarter with a 14-0 lead, the Blue Hawks Sam Burgess broke free on a 20-yard touchdown gallop.  A successful two-point PAT increased T Falls’ lead to 22-0.

Before the final horn sounded, the Blue Hawks added another TD when Robins scooted across the Copperhead goal line from five yards out.  The PAT kick attempt failed, but T Falls held a 28-0 lead on their way to their second victory of the season.

Robins had an outstanding game for the Hawks, leading the team in rushing yards with 145 on 23 carries, and one touchdown. He also threw for 86 yards and a touchdown on six of 12 passing attempts.

LeCoure had 69 yards rushing on 12 carries for T Falls, and had 11 yards passing with one touchdown.

Koskela led the Blue Hawks receivers with four catches for 35 yards and a touchdown.  Ian Myers had 36 receiving yards on one reception.

Defensively, LeCoure shared the team lead with four tackles, the same totla as teammate Myers.

Next up for the Blue Hawks is a game this Friday (Oct 4, 7pm) against Eureka.  They stay at Previs Field in Thompson Falls the following week (Oct 11, 7pm) when they take on Loyola of Missoula in two crucial conference games.
