After starting their week of volleyball action with a sweep of Troy, the Thompson Falls Lady Hawks journeyed to Eureka for a match with the unbeaten conference leading Lady Lions.

The difference in opponents was stark as the Lady Lions, fresh off handing previously unbeaten Plains their first loss of the season in Plains, downed the Lady Hawks 3-1.

Troy came to T Falls Thursday evening with a 0-5 Western B conference record and left town 0-6. The Lady Trojans put up a good fight in the opening set before T Falls pulled ahead and won a 25-19 win to take a 1-0 match lead.

T Falls cranked it up in the next two sets, defeating Troy 25-6 in the second set and then securing the sweep with a convincing 25-8 third set win and cementing the 3-0 sweep.

The win boosted T Falls to 6-3 on the year and 3-2 in the conference.

Leslie Gravier had a monster game for Troy, racking up 56 digs, 18 assists and 16 kill shots, along with three blocks and one service ace.  Teammate Autumn Fisher had 18 assists and 18 digs for the Lady Trojans.

T Falls got another outstanding match from Annalise Fairbank, who had 18 of the team’s 19 assists.  Junior Gabi Hannum also had a solid match, leading the team in kills with 12 and blocks with two.

Sarah Koskela had a team best five digs for the Lady Hawks to go with four kills. Addie Pardee led the team with eight aces.

Saturday in Eureka, the Lady Hawks gave the Lady Lions a good match from start to finish, but Eureka showed why they are unbeaten and leading the conference.

The Lions won the opening set 25-16, then took set number two 25-18 to take a 2-0 match lead.

But Thompson Falls, as it has done all year, did not quit and won the pivotal third set 25-22 in a set that featured several ties and lead changes from start to finish.  The third set win cut the Eureka match lead to 2-1.

In the fourth set, the Eureka depth and experience proved to be the difference as they led from start to finish on their way to a 25-13 win that secured the 3-1 match victory.

Fairbank once again led the Lady Hawks with 17 of the team’s total 20 assists.  Koskela had a team-best 10 digs and was tops on the team in kills with eight.  Hannum was the block leader with four, while Addy Deal had a team tying two aces, as did Pardee.

Next on the schedule for T Falls are a pair of road games, at Mission this Thursday (Oct 10), then another road match versus Charlo Friday (Oct 11).
