Lady Hawks find their form as post season nears

It is almost always best to “peak” as post-season possibilities begin to take shape.

To that effect, the Thompson Falls Lady Hawks volleyball team had a great “peaking” week. 

The Lady Hawks began their week with a 3-0 home match sweep over Superior this past Tuesday, then followed that with a 3-1 road win Thursday over Mission High in St. Ignatius. 

Friday, T Falls wrapped up its successful week with a 3-0 sweep of Charlo on the Lady Vikings home floor. 

In their match versus Superior, the Lady Bobcats put up a good fight in the first set before T Falls took control and won the set 25-19.  The set was tied early several times before the Lady Hawks pulled out to a17-11 lead and held on the for victory to take a 1-0 match lead. 

Set two was tied at 8-8 before the Lady Hawks cranked it up a notch or two and built an eight-point lead on their way to a 25-14 win and a 2-0 match advantage. 

The third set was pretty much all T Falls as they broke away from a 5-5 tie never looked back as they won the set 25-10 to clinch the match sweep. 

Olivia Fitchett had a match-best 31 assists for T Falls, along with three digs and six service aces.  Gabi Hannum and Sarah Koskela also had three digs for the Lady Hawks in the win, while Addy Deal lead the team with eight kill shots. 

From their home court in T Falls, it was on to St. Ignatius for a Thursday night encounter with Mission, in what was a hard-won 3-1 match victory for the Lady Hawks. 

The hosts won the opening set on their home court with a back-and-forth 25-22 win to take a 1-0 match lead.  But T Falls roared back in the second set, squared the match at 1-1 with a 25-12 win. 

Set three was also a hard-fought, down to the wire event, with the Lady Hawks holding on to a late lead and winning the set 25-23, giving T Falls a 2-1 match advantage. 

The Lady Hawks clinched the match with a 25-13 set four win. 

Jada Domebo had a good match for the home-standing Bulldogs, racking up 14 digs and 10 assists, while teammate Alicia Steele recorded 13 kills and 11 digs.  Madison Incashola had a team best 19 digs for Mission. 

Fitchett once again led the Lady Hawks in assists, getting 35 of the team’s 37 assists for the match. Fitchett also paced T Falls in service aces with six. 

Addy Deal and Koskela had 13 kills each to lead the Lady Hawks, while Addi Pardee had a team best seven digs. 

Thompson Falls wrapped up their busy week with a 3-0 win over Charlo in Charlo on Friday night. 

T Falls captured the opening set 25-15, then took a 2-0 match lead with a hard-won 25-22 win over the host team. 

The third and deciding set was also a down-to-the-wire set with T Falls hanging on for a 25-21 to secure the 3-0 match sweep. 

Fitchett again dominated the assists category, recording 33 of the Lady Hawks’ 35 assists. Koskela had a team high five digs and was credited with the team’s only blocked shot in the win. 

Pardee paced the team with 14 kill shots, two better than teammate Hannum, who had 12.  She also topped the Hawks with three service aces. 

T Falls' only game this week is a home match tonight (Tuesday, Oct 15) versus rival Plains.  Superior plays Troy at home this Thursday (Oct 17), then travels to Eureka this Friday for a match with the league-leading Lady Lions.
