Saltese shooting suspect remains at large

A Washington man suspected in an Oct. 13 shooting in Saltese remains at large after he ditched his vehicle on a road south of the rural community in Western Montana.
Willie Joe Richardson is wanted on one felony charge of attempted deliberate homicide and three felony counts of assault with a weapon. His bail was set at $1 million, according to an arrest warrant issued Oct. 16 in Mineral County District Court.
Mineral County law enforcement were searching for Richardson last week following a report of a shooting in Saltese. The community is on I-90 just east of the Idaho and Montana border.
Richardson apparently fled the scene in a black 2023 Kia Forte with Washington plates, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies later located the vehicle on Silver Creek Road south of Saltese.
Residents were advised to report any suspicious activity and to keep their doors locked while officials pursued the suspect.
Local, state and federal resources were called to assist in the search.
