St. Regis amassed 425 total yards of offense in a 48-24 win over Plains last week.

Plains cut into the lead with time running out in the final quarter when they scored on a 10-yard sweep run by Italian exchange student Luciano Ferrann, his first-ever touchdown.

“He took a fly sweep, going from east to west, cut back and scored,” said Plains head coach Mike Tatum. “It is a fond memory he’ll get to take back home and tell his friends and family back in Italy”.

Tatum agreed the ragged play early and Plains’ inability to take advantage of St. Regis penalties hurt the Horsemen.

“We couldn’t capitalize on some early fortune and found ourselves out of position at times,” he said. “St. Regis took advantage of that and jumped on us toward the end of the first half and in the third quarter.  We couldn’t catch up”.

St. Regis amassed 425 total yards of offense in the game, including 268 yards on the ground.

“Our defense played great and kept our heads above water in the first half,” Allan said. “Some big plays from out wide receivers, Bohn and Stolla, broke the game open in the third quarter and we were able to get some young guys some reps in the fourth quarter”.

Stolla and Bohn also had solid games defensively for the Tigers, with Stolla recording a team-high nine tackles and Bohn adding eight.  Bessette had four tackles, three assists, two sacks and a tackle for loss for St. Regis.

Tatum, in addition to noting Standeford’s big all-around effort, also had praise for wide receiver Zayden Allen, who had catches of 30, 31 and 20 yards, the last one for a touchdown.

“Zayden caught one of those passes as he fell flat on his back”, Tatum said.

Greg Tatum had 11 tackles to lead the Horsemen, including one sack and one pass batted down.  Beau Crabb added 10 tackles for the home team.

“All in all, we have moments of great football but sustaining that play throughout the game is still eluding us,” coach Tatum said.  “We’ll keep working toward that goal.  Hopefully we can put it together for our last game of the season this Friday (1 pm) in Arlee”.

St. Regis travels to Troy this Saturday (Oct 26) for a 1 pm game against the Trojans.  The Tigers’ win lifted their season record to 5-2, while Plains fell to 2-5 with the loss.
