After uncharacteristically beginning the season with a 1-2 record, the young talent that permeates the Superior High football lineup began to gel into a dangerous team.

As evidence of that assertion, they walloped Arlee Friday night on the road, 60-14, their fourth straight win in the hectic world of Western B-8 player football.

The win lifted Superior to 5-2 on the year and in the conference, keeping them in the upper echelons of the league standings.  Their only losses of the year were their season opener against league leading, unbeaten Valley Christian, and I-90 rival St. Regis.

The Bobcats started scoring seemingly from the time they got off the team bus in Arlee Friday night, the first score coming less than one minute into the opening quarter on a 31-yard receiving touchdown by sophomore Turner Milender on a throw from sophomore QB Landon Richards.

It would be the first of five TD passes on the night for Richards.

Before the first quarter came to an end, the Bobcats tacked on two more touchdowns, both of them short runs by Milender.  The first, with 8:46 left in the opening quarter, was from five yards out, while the second TD was from four yards.  Both PAT tries failed, but at that point Superior was ahead 20-0.

The Bobcats added a 32-yard touchdown pass from Richards to senior Trizten Avilla with 1:32 left in the opening quarter.  The PAT run was good for two points, boosting the visitors to a 28-0 advantage.

Arlee struck back in the second quarter when Keelen DuPuis tossed an 18-yard TD pass to Dean Moran at the 8:17 mark of the second quarter, cutting the Bobcats’ led to 28-0.

Midway through quarter number two, Richards hooked up with sophomore Gannon Quinlan on a 12-yard TD pass at the 7:06 mark.  The PAT try failed, leaving Superior with a 34-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, Richards connected with Quinlan again, this time on a 53-yard pass play.  Richards then hooked up with junior Phin Cataldo for the two-point PAT, boosting their lead to 42-0.

Dupois hooked up with Isadore Mitchell on a 45-yard pass TD. The run PAT failed, making the score 42-14.

Superior wrapped up the scoring in the fourth quarter when Richards hit Avilla with a 40-yard aerial strike with 5:21 to play.  The PAT failed leaving the final score 60-14 in favor of Superior.

Superior completes its regular season schedule with a game this Friday in Seeley-Swan against the Blackhawks, who are 6-2 overall and 6-1 in Western B play.  Kickoff is set for 7 pm.

Richards threw for 329 yards on 14-19 passing.

Sam Doughty paced the Bobcats defense with seven tackles, while Quinlan added six.  The Bobcats intercepted four passes on the night, including two by Avilla.
