Unbeaten Lady Lions sweep Superior
There was little left to be determined following Eureka’s convincing 3-0 sweep of Superior this past week.
The Lady Lions are worthy of their so-far unbeaten season that has them sitting atop the Western 7B volleyball standings.
The win over Superior boosted Eureka to 8-0 in league play and 15-0 overall this season.
Following a 1-1 tie in the opening minutes of the first set of their game against Superior, the Lady Lions methodically built a 14-6 lead. They then outscored Superior 9-1 on their way to a 25-7 win and a 1-0 match lead on their home court in Eureka.
Things did not get any better for the game but the out-manned Lady Bobcats, who fell behind the athletic Eureka team 4-1, then saw that lead grow to 15-4. When the second set ended, won by the host team 25-7, Eureka held a commanding 2-0 match advantage.
The third set was a rubber stamp of the first two, with the Lions jumping out to a big early lead and rolling to another 25-7 win that secured their 3-0 match sweep.
Superior's next match is a Western 7B meeting in Missoula against Loyola this Saturday (Oct 26). The district tournament is the following weekend in Thompson Falls.
Eureka controls its own destiny as they close out their schedule with games against Thompson Falls and Plains, the number two and three team in the league standings, this Thursday and Saturday. The game versus Thompson Falls is set for Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
