Karen Nanette Dunlap, 73
Karen Nanette Dunlap passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on Oct. 21, 2024 in her home in Millcreek. She had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early July.
Karen will always be loved and remembered for her kindness, intelligence, beauty, and humor. Karen loved art and volunteered as a docent at the University of Utah Museum of Fine Arts. She also loved cooking, reading, nature, her doggie Einstein, and traveling with her companion, George. Karen was born in Los Angeles and as an adult lived in four other western states.
She attended University of Montana, University of Colorado, and University of Utah with degrees in Art History and Library Science. Karen had a few long careers at the Salt Lake Tribune, in several libraries, museums, and with Salt Lake County.
She will be loved and missed by many. Survivors include her companion, George Rife. Children: Alex (Shelly) Dunlap, Martin Dunlap, Adrienne Dunlap. Grandchildren: Connor Dunlap and Samantha Sanchez. Preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Dennis Gordon Dunlap. Parents: Oscar and Betty (Watson) Norberg. Siblings Kristin Adelson and Kevin Norberg.
