Patsy Maylene Duncan, 78

Patsy Maylene Duncan, 78, passed away peacefully with her daughter Johanna by her side in Hot Springs on Oct. 16, 2024. She was born Aug. 14, 1946, to Joseph Russell and Thelma Catherine Daniel in Hereford, Texas.

Her parents owned the first flower shop in Hereford for many years and young Patsy found immense joy there, relishing the aroma of flowers. Patsy’s father was a Baptist minister, so she and her brother Jerry Lynn Daniel spent their childhood involved with the church. 

Despite her upbringing, Patsy was a wild child growing up and later in life proudly shared the stories about her adventures and rebellious ways. She enjoyed hanging out with friends and won many trophies shooting billiards in her youth. As a social butterfly she acquired numerous lifelong friends. She had a profound love for music, animals, and riding horses. The love she had for her pets was immeasurable and the unconditional love that was reciprocated warmed her soul. 

One of her favorite past times was waitressing at the Caison House in Hereford. She was extremely proud of the fact that she could carry twelve cups of coffee in a single trip. Later she worked alongside Dr. Hutto at the Veterinary Clinic for many years before eventually continuing her education to become a correctional officer. She served the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a correctional officer for over 25 years before retiring at the age of seventy-four.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Thelma Daniel; sisters, Earlene Manning and Susie Curtsinger; and brother Aubrey Daniel. Her brother Jerry Daniel served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and is presumed to be missing in action.

Patsy is survived by her youngest daughter Johanna (Ernest) Trujillo of Plains, MT; grandchildren Melissa (Beatrice) Reyna, Chris (Atalya) Reyna, Mandi (David) Tramel, Joseph Reyna, and Fame Lopez. She is also survived by her eldest daughter Toni (Bobby) Maldonado of Bailey, CO, and granddaughter Stephanie Silva. She had a total of thirteen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be held at Clark Fork Baptist Church in Plains on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or TRACS (Thompson River Animal Care) in Thompson Falls.
