SeptemBEAR hunt in St. Regis

Akin to the frenzy of an Easter egg hunt, kids and adults alike ran around the forest searching high and low for uniquely painted rocks with bears on them. (Mineral Independent/Amy Quinlivan)

Even Smokey the Bear from the Superior Forest Service office came by for a special visit. Following the scavenger hunt hungry bear hunters ate hot dogs and drank warm refreshments provided by the St. Regis Senior Center as they looked through their rock collections they had found. The first Annual SeptemBear Hunt was "Beary" successful and Kelly Morrison along with the St. Regis Senior Center look forward to putting it on again next year and making it an endearing family and community tradition. (Mineral Independent/Amy Quinlivan)
