Josh Pecora, captain of the Tarkio Volunteer Fire Station, spoke to a group of local residents on DNRC land last week where a new fire station was initially planned to be built three years ago.

"We’re starting from ground zero," he explained, referring to the challenge of securing funding for the station.

The construction was originally expected to be covered by a grant that the community was previously told had already been secured. Now, efforts are underway to raise funds, and the search for a new grant writer is in progress. Pecora can be reached at (406) 214-6667.
