Author Katie Powner to discuss new book

The Mineral County Public Library main branch at 301 2nd Avenue East in Superior is pleased to announce that author Katie Powner is returning on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.  

"I love visiting the Mineral County Library. The folks there always make me feel so welcome, and I can't wait to talk with everyone about my new book!" she said. 

"When the Road Comes Around" was released earlier this month and follows "The Wind Blows in Sleeping Grass," which was a 2024 Selah Award winner, Christy Award winner and Carol Award finalist. Powner is known for contemporary fiction about redemption, relationships, and finding the dirt road home. "Powner unfolds a complex and resonant tale of redemption and forgiveness," writes Publisher's Weekly.

She shares, “I grew up on a dairy farm in the Pacific Northwest. Spent my formative years climbing trees, talking to cows, and perming my hair. Now I live in Montana, where cows still outnumber people. I'm a happy wifey and a mom to the third power (biological, adoptive, and foster). I've been writing for as long as I can remember.” 

Not only an author but Powner loves helping people. She especially loves helping aspiring Christian authors.

“There was a time, when I was probably ten or so, when I composed a multi-page epic poem for my mom in celebration of Mother's Day. As I recall, the poem included several verses for each of the four seasons and there was something about a frolicking deer. Anyway, she pretended with all her heart to love that poem and for that I will always be thankful because I don't think I would be doing this today if she had thrown it in the garbage,” she smiles.
