Jay Ovitt, 69

Jay Aaron Ovitt, 69, of Faribault, MN, gained his wings, after an extended illness, on Feb. 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Jay was born on Dec. 17, 1955, in Bottineau, N.D. Jay grew up in North Dakota and Montana. He graduated from Argusville High School in 1974. After graduation he moved to Plains. He loved the mountains, and hunting elk and deer. Jay met his wife Brenda Low in 1976 in Plains. They were married in 1977. They have two daughters Nicole andSarah. Jay was very dedicated to his family. He worked at the sawmill in MT and oil fields in North Dakota before moving to Faribault, MN. Jay worked at Crown Cork and Seal until his retirement in 2006. He also worked for a couple of farmers part time outside of Faribault. He then managed a couple of apartment buildings until his illness in 2017.

Jay loved spending time with his grandkids and was very devoted to them. Jay enjoyed playing horseshoes & bowling, and he won many tournaments. Jay loved camping and teaching some of the grandkids to drive. Jay had a wonderful smile, sense of humor, and was very kindhearted. He loved to make people laugh.

Jay is survived by his wife Brenda of 48 years; daughters, Nicole Crust of Minneapolis, MN and Sarah (Jason) Dunn of Faribault, MN; 4 grandkids, Summer (Roman) Lopez of CO, Devon Dunn (girlfriend Chloe) of Owatonna, MN, Alizea Dunn and Adrianna Dunn of Faribault MN; siblings, Rod of Bottineau, ND, Dennis (Helen) of Plains, MT, Tim (Karen) of Kenosha WI, Lona (Lowell) of Thief River Falls, MN, Winne (Steve) of Plains, MT, Linda of Plains, MT, Merilyn (Jim) of Warroad, MN, Susan (Mike) of Fargo ND, and Glen of Billings, MT; in-laws, Robert & Sheri Low, Barbara & Clint Larson, Kris (Mark), Cheri (Calvin), Jeff; Laurie (Jamie), Mike (Danielle), and Josh (Melissa); and many nieces and nephews.

Jay is preceded in death by his grandson, Murdoch Crust; parents; Gary, Allen, Kathy (Ronnie), and Doug (Robin).

Service and celebration of life was held on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, at Mill City Senior Living 1520 17th Street NW, Faribault, MN, in the community room.
