“Spotlight on the Arts” by The Paradise Center honors and encourages students in the arts by highlighting their talent and acknowledging the support they receive through their schools and teachers.

Zander Strack is 12 years old and a sixth-grade student in Plains. Ms. Jirasko is his classroom teacher. He drew the attention of both his music teacher, Ms. Miller, and the elementary principal, Mr. Meredith, for his dedication and interest in music. According to them both, he puts extra effort into music class and also into performing for concerts.

Zander especially enjoys playing the ukulele which he was introduced to just a couple months ago in music class. Currently his music class is working on a ukulele strumming pattern for the song, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, that they will be performing for the spring concert.

A pop musician with the stage name of BoyWithUke has been an inspiration for Zander in learning to play the ukulele. He especially enjoys listening with his friend to the song “Toxic” by BoyWithUke.

There is no doubt that Zander’s interest in music will serve him well as he develops his musical potential.
