Travelers’ Rest State Park host First Day Hikes
Travelers’ Rest State Park near Lolo will host a "First Day Hike" on New Year’s Day. The guided hike will begin outside the Travelers’ Rest visitor center at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1 and is free and open to all ages.
Participants will look for birds and signs of other wildlife throughout the two-mile hike and will get exclusive access to the Travelers’ Rest visitor center afterwards to view exhibits, enjoy hot chocolate and ask additional questions. The park entrance gates and visitor center will be closed following the event at 2 p.m.
The terrain is mostly flat, but be sure to wear shoes or boots with good traction. Dress warmly and bring binoculars if wanted.
The "First Day Hike" event is part of an annual, nationwide activity co-sponsored by America's State Parks. Montana State Parks hosts First Day Hikes at many locations around the state.
