A special meeting of the Sanders County Fair Board Commission was held last week to address several important issues that had been tabled during their previous regular meeting.

At that meeting, questions were raised regarding the term lengths for the chair position. Sanders County Commissioner John Holland recommended that the Fair Commission bylaws be reviewed.

During the special meeting, Chair Randy Woods read the bylaws aloud to clarify the correct procedures. According to the bylaws, the Fair Commission chair and vice chair serve two-year terms, with no limit on the number of terms they can serve.

The commission reappointed Woods as chair for another term and appointed Brian Crain as vice chair.

The final item on the agenda addressed the need to find a new promoter for the demolition derby. The commission initially voted to accept FOS Promotions' bid to host the 2025 derby event at the Sanders County Fairgrounds. However, FOS Promotions later withdrew their bid following the appointment of a new Fair Commission member.

In response, commission members suggested several alternative promoters, and Fair Manager Kristy Sheehan will be reaching out to them. Commission member Rich Sanders assured, “We are going to have a derby event.”
