Legislative update from Sen. Loge
This past week in the Legislature has been the busiest yet.
The bills without revenue must be through the Senate and transferred to the house by March 7. Since committees did not get many bills the first two weeks of session, we are swamped now. Recent days have been from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
We have finally passed out legislation for the House to discuss on housing, health care, property tax reform and judicial review. One bill that has been a controversial issue was Medicaid reauthorization. The House passed it and the Senate as well, so it moves on to the governor.
I do not get time to answer much correspondence but thank you for participating. Our bill tracking system has been flawed this session, but a few locals have made it to Helena to testify. It is always good to see a familiar face, especially when they are behind the microphone.
Keep in mind, as bills travel through the system, they are not always as they started due to the amendment process, which is why I usually don't reference bill numbers. I hope to get home for a few days over our transmittal break.
