The 2025 western Montana B-C golf season is rapidly becoming a case of who can catch Loyola’s Elsie Munding or Seeley-Swan's Mia Nicholas.

The duo has dominated most area meets this year and the Anaconda High School Invitational at Old Works golf course was no exception.

Munding shot an 18-hole score of 81 to win the girls’ individual competition, beating her number one competitor, Nicholas, who carded an 83.

Florence-Carlton won the girls’ team title with a score of +101 to par (72), ten shots fewer than runner-up Anaconda (111).

Jefferson High’s Tyson Lee fired an even par 72 to win the boys’ individual title and power Jefferson to the team title with +31 to par.  Florence-Carlton's boys were a very close second with a +32 in the team title quest.

Local golfers (Sanders and Mineral counties) were topped by St. Regis’ girls, eighth at +194, while the St. Regis boys’, fresh off their win at the St. Regis open earlier in the week, placed eighth at +73.  Superior was tenth (+89) and Thompson Falls was eleventh (+101).

T Falls senior Sophia Chou tied for fourth in the girls’ individual competition with an 87 (+15).  Lady Hawks teammate Solveig Nygaard was eighth with a personal best 95 (+23) to lead T Falls, which did not have enough golfers to qualify for the team title.

Top girls’ golfer for St. Regis was freshman Khila Teeters, who shot a 108 (+36).  St. Regis’ top golfer was junior Shelby Simkins (112, +40).  St. Regis teammate Averie Burnham tied for 40th with a 127, while the Lady Tigers’ Jaycee Pruitt tied for 48th at 135.

In the boys’ competition, St. Regis junior Denver Thomas was the top local golfer with a score of 83, two strokes lower than Superior junior Phin Cataldo’s 85 (tied for twenty-second).

Dillon Thomas shot an 87 for St. Regis, and teammate Kaleb Park was tied for 31st at 89.

Other top local golfers included Superior’s Brydon Drey (93), Dalton Boyce (93), Neil Orr (106) and Henry Hanson (106).

Top golfer for Thompson Falls was Jack Kull (88), followed by teammates Will Grenda (96), Tristan Kelly (100), Blake Shusterman (105) and Nathan Baxter 108.

Next up for Thompson Falls, Superior and Plains (which did not have golfers at Anaconda) this Tuesday (May 6) in the Western divisional tourney in Eureka.

St. Regis takes part in the Western C Divisional in Bozeman this Thursday (May 8).
