For the St. Regis High boys’ and girls’ golfers, the Class C tournament this past week in Sidney was the second straight state championship appearance.

And although they did not have enough qualifiers to compete for either team title, all four St. Regis golfers had a solid tourney during the two-day event at Sidney Golf Course this past Tuesday and Wednesday.

Scobey’s boys and the Savage girls won team titles, with Sidney’s Cooper Axtman winning the boys individual crown with a two-day total of 154 and Seeley-Swan's Mia Nicholas winning her second straight girls’ title with a 164.

Manhattan Christian was second in the boys’ standings, while Centerville was the girls’ team runner-up.

St. Regis was led by Denver Thomas, who fired a 179 total and finished 14th in the individual competition.  Thomas carded a first day score of 95, then came back on day 2 with an 84. Boys' winner Axtman shot 75 both days over the par 72 course.

St. Regis’ senior Kaleb Park placed 38th with a total score of 213 (109, 104).

Freshman standout Khila Teeters was the top finisher for the Lady Tigers with a 229 (121, 108), while senior teammate Avery Burnham carded a 235 (120, 115), good for 36th.

The state meet wrapped up a solid season for St. Regis, which also qualified last year behind top 10 finisher Jack Connolly, who graduated last spring.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers are coached by Dan Park, the manager of Trestle Creek Golf Course in St. Regis.
