Sam Deschamps of Plains who is a boiler maker by trade, volunteered his time at the Plains community pool boiler room on Wednesday to remove the pool's thirty year old sand filter. Plains community members are teaming up to try to raise money and get the filter replaced. "The pool cannot function without a new filter," said Deschamps. Deschamps was working on the filter with Jon Dubois. They are both parents of kids on the swim team in Plains, and are removing the filter now, so that if and when there is money for new one, it can be installed immediately.
