Rediscovering home: Elk populations
Throughout the 45 years I was away from my hometown, I returned a couple times a year to visit mother. Elk appeared to be more prevalent with each passing year as I visited the various drainages.

Elk herds on the move around county
There are reports of large elk herds seen around Mineral County. Jill Pestana who lives in St. Regis, recently reported seeing several separate herds throughout the valley. During this time of year herds move from wintering grounds into spring calving areas.
