It may look messy and counterintuitive, but this log jam being created by Darin Haskins of Haskins Excavating is a crucial element of restoring stream health for trout in the tributaries of the Clark Fork River. In early August work was done along 12-Mile Creek near St. Regis by Trout Unlimited, the construction of these large wooden structures generates pooling for spawning, rearing, and over wintering.
