St. Regis Music Teacher, and newly named Superintendent Derek Larson led his high school band in a series of holiday tunes on December 13. Due to poor road conditions, Mullan High School band students were unable to attend the performance as planned, and the concert was also reduced in number with other students being sick or absent. But in true community fashion, musically gifted locals stepped in to fill in the gaps which is a favorite form of collaboration for Larson. The concert ended with some audience participation singing along to Jingle Bells, Silent Night, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. (Amy Quinlivan/Mineral Independent)
