On April 22, Earth Day the town of St. Regis was spruced up and rid of trash by brightly colored class groups on the cold and sunny morning. These bright orange 5th graders walked along the north side of Mullan Gulch road picking up debris. Grades K-12 from St. Regis School were split up and designated other sections of road, or areas to clean. The efforts were led by senior Baylee Pruitt, who put the event together as part of her senior project and her ongoing work with the Youth Group of New Day Fellowship. Organizers of the annual Trail Rail Run provided neon shirts for students to wear and extra gloves. And the St. Regis Travel Center donated a refreshing drink to each student who gathered garbage that day. (Amy Quinlivan/Mineral Independent)
